September 16, 2009THE VALUE OF ANIMALS![]() ~Pets Are Important Members Of The Family Too~ unknown author Pets are often important members of a family. If you have a dog, or cat, or bird, or llama, or whatever strikes your fancy, you probably have noticed that you get attached to the animals just like you get attached to other family members. That's because animals are family members too. They are not human, but then there is no law that limits family membership to just human beings. We provide the same care for pets that we provide for all other family members; things like food, shelter, health care, love and nurturing. This fact alone qualifies pets to be family members. Animals also contribute to the quality of life of a family. They can provide security, companionship and unconditional love. And on top of this, animals can be good for one's emotional and physical health. Stroking a pet that is soft and cuddly, for instance, can lower your blood pressure. Literally. Interacting with an animal can enhance the quality and emotional well being of your life. That's because pets usually make few demands and love you back no matter what. So, it might be appropriate every now and then to consider the value of your family pet(s). What do they contribute to your family life? How do they enrich what goes on under your roof? What lessons do they teach you and your children? When you give thanks for your blessings, don't forget the pets! |
